Thailand's Economy
Thailand's economy is based on agriculture. Land and land ownership is very important in the country. Plains in the central regions are the most suitable land that can be cultivated in the country. The main agricultural products are corn, beetroot, fruit-vegetable, rice, sugarcane, coconut, tobacco, pepper, spice, jute, cassava root, coconut, bean and cotton. Rice is the most important product in the country's foreign trade.
Nearly three-fifths of Thailand's total surface area is forested. Timber is a very important source of income. Other forest products include teak, charcoal, dandelion, lacquer and resin (pine gum).
