Livestock farming is developed and cattle, sheep and swine fattening is common.
In industry, the chemistry and machinery industry has evolved. The mines in the mountainous regions are extracted and processed. Although coal and oil deposits are not available, the basic energy requirement of the industry is met by hydroelectric power plants on rivers. Jaslovske Bohunice has a nuclear power plant. Heavy industrial enterprises were gathered in the cities of Bratislava and Kosice. The income of the natural gas and oil pipelines passing through the land meets the needs of the country. In the machinery industry; machine tools, river vessels, truck spare parts, televisions, radios, washing machines, coolers etc. are produced. In the field of chemistry, nitrogen fertilizers and petrochemical combi boilers have an important place.
In the country where the mountains are covered with forests, forestry has an important place in the economy. The need for wood and paper industry from forests is met.
