Swedish Economy
Sweden's development is based on mineral resources. There are various mineral resources; iron beds provide 25% of world iron production. In addition, there are manganese, gold, copper, silver and coal in the country. Forests known as green gold meet the need for timber and paper pulp. The electricity generated from the country's rivers meets the energy required for the country's industry.
Major industrial products of the country are machinery, vehicles, shipbuilding (third in world production), electronic equipment, telephone, aircraft, war vehicles, locomotives, ball bearings. All these industrial factories concentrate mainly around the city of Stockholm and Gothenburg. Weaving in Malmö, leatherwork in Örebro, rubber industry in Helsingborg has been developed. Although the agricultural areas are small, modern techniques are applied and the highest efficiency is achieved. In Sweden, oat comes first in grain production. Rye, wheat, barley, potatoes and beet ranks first among the products they grow.
Less than 2% of Swedish territory is pasture. Livestock is supported by the state. With the animals grown meat, milk, butter, cheese and eggs are met. Fishing is done on the coasts and lakes. It is an important source of income.
