com.bh Domain: Bahrain's Corporate Commercial Zone
com.bh is the Kingdom of Bahrain's third-level zone reserved for businesses, and it is administered by the country's regulator, the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) in Manama. The governing text is the Rules of Domain Names of the Kingdom of Bahrain published in October 2025; the binding version is the Arabic text in the Official Gazette. Article 16 of the rules lists the third-level zones in a numbered table and states com.bh's purpose in a single word: businesses.
The most commonly misunderstood point about this zone is the belief that it requires a Bahraini commercial registration. Article 19 asks for one of two documents: a valid commercial registration certificate or a certificate of registration of a trademark or intellectual or industrial property. Neither carries a condition that the document be issued in Bahrain. That this is no drafting oversight becomes clear from article 20, which follows immediately: the same structure is set up for cc.bh, but there the zone is reserved for businesses registered in the Kingdom of Bahrain and the certificate must come from the Ministry of Industry and Commerce.
The practical consequence is this: a company established in Türkiye can apply for com.bh with its own trade register record or its trademark certificate. In return, the process is not instant — article 9 of the rules says third-level applications are reviewed and decided within at most seven days, that a rejection must be reasoned, and that the fees paid are non-refundable. If you want a registration with no documents and no review, look at the .bh zone. Check your candidate on the domain name search page.

.com.bh Domain Lifecycle
What happens day by day after it expires
Day 0 is the domain's expiry dateIn short: for .com.bh the post-expiry timeline is set by the registry, so it differs from one extension to the next. The diagram below shows the windows that actually apply to .com.bh, day by day. One thing never changes, whichever extension you hold: renewing before the expiry date is always the cheapest and safest route.
Domain Is Available (Available)
A .com.bh address at this stage has not been taken yet, and it goes to whoever registers first. Check the name you have in mind — if it is free, it can be yours within minutes.
Domain Is Active (Active Period)
Once registration is complete, the domain is registered to you for the term you selected. You can renew at any point before it expires to keep it active, or switch on auto-renewal so you never have to watch the date.
Redemption Period (Redemption Period)
The domain is not released the moment it expires — during this window it is still yours and can be recovered. Some extensions charge an extra restore fee at this stage, so renewing before expiry is always the cheaper route.
Pending Delete Period (Pending Delete Period)
If the redemption window is missed too, the domain enters the final stage and waits to be deleted. Renewal and recovery are no longer possible here; when the period ends the registration is removed for good.
Domain Is Available Again
Once deletion completes, the domain leaves the system and anyone can register it — popular names are often taken the same minute by someone watching. Keep auto-renewal on so a name you care about never gets this far.

Frequently Asked Questions About .com.bh Domains
The questions people actually ask before registering — answered plainly.
-
Article 19 of the rules asks for one of two documents at the time of application: a valid commercial registration certificate, or a certificate of registration of a trademark or intellectual or industrial property. You do not need to submit both. The same article also sets a substantive condition: your company name or business activity must relate to the domain you are requesting, so there has to be a connection between your document and the name.
-
No. Article 19 of the rules says «a valid commercial registration certificate» and does not require that it be issued in Bahrain. That the distinction is deliberate becomes clear from article 20 immediately after: the same structure is set up for cc.bh, but there the zone is reserved for businesses registered in the Kingdom of Bahrain and the certificate must come from the Ministry of Industry and Commerce. The regulator wrote the local requirement in explicitly where it wanted one.
-
Yes. Because the rules do not limit the country of the document, a company established in Türkiye can apply with its own trade register record or trademark certificate; no Bahraini address, branch or local representative is required. The registry's own summary likewise describes com.bh as open to businesses globally. Do keep in mind the article 19 condition that the name must relate to your company name or your business activity.
-
Article 9 of the rules states that third-level applications are reviewed and the applicant notified electronically within at most seven days. So com.bh is not a registration that activates instantly. The same article adds two details worth planning for: a rejection must be reasoned, and the fees paid are not refunded. Settle the validity of your document and the link between the name and your activity before you apply.
-
Article 8 of the rules gives a single range for registration, renewal and re-registration: from one to five years. No different term is defined by level, so com.bh falls under the same range. The post-expiry sequence is identical too: article 10 provides that the name stays active and renewable for 45 days, followed by a 30-day retrieval period, after which the name is deleted within five days.
-
Yes, with one additional condition. Article 45 of the rules provides that names not subject to a dispute, suspension or cancellation may be transferred, while article 48 sets a specific rule for third-level names: the transferee must meet the zone's registration requirements. So whoever takes over a com.bh name must also produce a commercial registration or trademark certificate. You can start from the domain transfer page.
-
The difference lies in eligibility and process. For .bh, article 9 of the rules gives payment of the fees as the only condition: no document, no review, no wait. com.bh is reserved for businesses, requires a document with the application, and is decided within seven days at most. In exchange, com.bh carries an institutional signal, because it rests on a commercial register or a trademark. Naming rules and terms are identical in both zones.
-
They may be. Article 18 of the rules requires the holder to keep meeting the conditions throughout the registration period. If the authority finds that eligibility is not satisfied, it requests evidence by email within 30 days; if the documents are judged insufficient, a further 30 days are granted, and if that also passes without result the registration may be cancelled. Under article 11 the authority may additionally review registrations periodically or at random and suspend one outright.
