Article 16, part two of the registration instruction allows a registrar to instruct foreign legal entities to conclude contracts in respect of non-resident applicants, adding that the rights under such contracts arise directly for the registrar. The footnote defines a non-resident as a foreign legal entity, foreign sole trader or foreign national without a Belarusian permanent residence permit. So there is no residency, local address or trustee requirement; the registration still runs through an accredited Belarusian registrar.

There are only two options. Article 21 states that the registration term is one or two years at the applicant's choice, indicated in the application; article 22 adds that renewals are unlimited in number but each one is again limited to one or two years. A three, five or ten year registration is simply not defined in this zone. A renewal request may be filed no earlier than two months before the current registration ends.

Article 5 defines the format in detail: a name consists of at least two and at most sixty-three characters and may contain only lowercase Latin letters, digits and hyphens. A hyphen may not begin or end the name, and hyphens may not occupy the third and fourth positions at the same time. A two-letter .by name is therefore possible as a matter of rule.
