Not directly, but there are two routes and both are written into the rules. Article 3.1 opens a path for companies registered abroad that maintain a registered branch or commercial representative office in Bulgaria; in that case a certificate from the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry confirming the branch is required. Article 3.3 gives the second route: a legal entity registered abroad may authorise an entity meeting the 3.1 or 3.2 criteria to register on its behalf. That route requires a notarised power of attorney in original.

Article 4.1 lists two items: the application filled in online through your registrar's interface, and identification documents under Appendix 1. Article 1.3 defines the label as a name made of ASCII characters or of Cyrillic characters, and sets one condition for Cyrillic: the label must include at least one letter visually distinguishable from the Latin alphabet (б, г, д, ж, и, й, л, п, ф, ц, ч, ш, щ, ъ, ь, ю, я). That rules out confusable homograph names from the start. Article 17.6 adds that Cyrillic names are requested and registered as a pair with .бг under a single registrant.

As a rule the label must be at least 3 characters (article 5.2.2). For two-character labels article 5.2.4 permits three forms only: a digit followed by a letter, a letter followed by a digit, and digits alone. A label of two ASCII letters is not on that list and cannot be registered. Even the permitted forms are not sold through a normal application: article 7.5 assigns them by sealed-bid auction, envelopes are opened before a notary and the winner pays within fifteen days.

Two operations must be kept apart. A change of registrar is unrestricted: article 10.12 says the registrant may do it at any time after paying the registration and support fees to the new registrar. A change of registrant is heavier: article 8.6 requires a contract between the parties that is either certified by a notary public or signed with the digital signatures of both registrants' representatives. In Bulgaria disputes are decided by the registry's own Dispute Committee. Article 11.3 keeps the scope narrow: the applicant may request revocation only if the label of the registered name is identical with the full name they have grounds to use. The outcome depends on protection status: under article 11.4.1, if the name is unprotected and the applicant's grounds have earlier priority, the name may be transferred to them. If a decision goes against you, you have 15 days to submit a precautionary court order from a Bulgarian court.

A query to whois.register.bg on 12 August 2026 returned the domain name, registration status, name servers and DNSSEC state; in place of the contact block there was a single statement: personal data is not published under the GDPR. The server directs anyone who needs to reach the responsible people to the online contact form on the registry's website. You therefore do not need to buy a separate privacy service. The registry also issues an official report on a registration's circumstances on request.
