The opening of the regulation states that a possibility has been created for those not registered with the Curaçao Chamber of Commerce and for those who wish to apply from abroad, and it defines that possibility as the third level: com.cw, net.cw and org.cw. Direct .cw, by contrast, is open only to entities officially established on the island. In Curaçao, the accessible extension is com.cw.

A DNS measurement on 12 August 2026 showed that com.cw is not a separately delegated zone: queries for the zone records of com.cw return the record of .cw itself, so com.cw names are served from within the .cw zone. net.cw has the same structure. In the same measurement org.cw returned nothing at all, meaning that although it is a permitted form, no name has been registered there yet. This is an architectural choice rather than a defect.
