Yes. The rules put it in a single sentence: com.ge «can be registered under the name of any natural person or legal entity». You may take one in your own name without a company. This is the widest condition among Georgia's eleven general domains; the sibling zone org.ge admits only legal entities, net.ge only electronic communications operators, and pvt.ge only individual entrepreneurs. Residency is not required either, since the general rule covers residents and non-residents alike. Measurement confirms it: there are names in the zone held by private individuals.

Two characters. The rules set the minimum at 2 symbols and the maximum at 63, and state separately that this requirement applies to the general domains as well. Measurement agrees: two-letter names such as aa.com.ge and eu.com.ge are live registrations. aa.com.ge was created in November 2025, after the current rulebook was published, so short registrations remain open today. A label may contain only Latin letters, digits and hyphens. Single-character names come back as unavailable because they fall below the minimum.

Both belong to the same registry, Caucasus Online, and are governed by the same rulebook; the difference is position and occupancy. .ge is the direct second level and the default form in Georgia: in the registry's count on 15 August 2026, 68,677 of the 74,744 names in the zone sat directly under .ge, while all general domains together came to 5,726. com.ge is positioned as the commercial zone and in practice serves those who cannot find their name under .ge. On eligibility both are open to private individuals.

Country names and the names of Georgian cities, towns, rivers and lakes are reserved. A country name goes only to that country's embassy or consulate, a place name to the relevant local authority or entitled person, and numeric names resembling telephone codes to the holder of the code. There are also names the registry keeps closed entirely on cybersecurity grounds. In measurement rustavi.com.ge, germany.com.ge and mtkvari.com.ge came back unavailable. Names registered before the list are preserved: batumi.com.ge has been held since 2015 and kutaisi.com.ge since 2014.

The name is suspended on its expiry date, and because suspension cuts the link between the name and its name servers, your website and mail stop the same day. A single thirty-day window then runs; if the renewal is not paid within it, the registry is obliged to cancel the registration and delete the name. The rules define no second redemption stage and no separate recovery fee. General domains carry one further risk: if it later emerges that the registration conditions are not met, the name can be suspended on that ground too.

You may change registrar at any time. You obtain an authorization code, valid for thirty days, from your current registrar's system, pass it to the new registrar, and the change completes once the registry verifies it. Only the new registrar may charge for this; money paid in advance to the old one is not refunded. Changing the owner of a name is a separate operation, and the receiving party must also meet the zone's registration condition.
