Only legal entities. The rulebook in force limits the zone in a single sentence: org.ge can be registered in the name of any legal entity. The registry's information page draws the line tighter still and ties the zone to non-commercial organisations; what both texts agree on is that a private individual cannot take an org.ge name in their own name. There is no nationality condition, so an entity incorporated outside Georgia may apply. For personal projects .com.ge and .ge are open.

Yes, there is an eligibility step. The rules require the holder of a general domain to submit documents and/or information to the registrar electronically, showing that the zone's condition is met; in org.ge that condition is being a legal entity. The registrar is not obliged to verify the accuracy of what you submit. The registry may additionally ask for identification — a registration number and a copy of the certificate of registration — and if the requested data is not supplied within seven working days the name is suspended. Foreign documents may need an apostille and a sworn Georgian translation.

Both belong to the same registry and are governed by the same rulebook; what separates them is eligibility. .com.ge can be registered by any natural person or legal entity, while org.ge is open only to legal entities. That has a measurable consequence: on 15 August 2026 there were 248 names under org.ge in active use with a valid certificate, against 965 under com.ge. So org.ge is the narrower but more selective zone, and an address there signals through the registration itself that its holder is an organisation.

Two characters. The rules set the minimum at 2 symbols and the maximum at 63, and state separately that the requirement applies to the general domains too. Measurement confirms it: two-letter names such as bk.org.ge and tm.org.ge are live registrations, and bk.org.ge was created in December 2025, after the current rulebook was published. A label may contain only Latin letters, digits and hyphens; names in the Georgian script cannot be registered in this zone. Single-character names come back as unavailable because they fall below the minimum.

The name is suspended on its expiry date; because suspension cuts the link between the name and its name servers, the website and mail stop that same day. A single thirty-day window then runs, and if the renewal is not paid within it the registry is obliged to cancel the registration and delete the name. The rules define no second redemption stage and no separate recovery fee. org.ge carries one further ground for suspension: if it emerges that the organisation no longer meets the legal-entity condition, the name can be suspended on that basis.

A transfer is possible but carries a condition specific to this zone: the party receiving the name must also meet org.ge's registration condition, that is, be a legal entity. For that reason an org.ge name cannot pass to a private individual. The registry may ask both sides for written consent, and a transfer can also follow a court ruling or a dispute resolution decision. After a transfer the name stays locked for thirty days. The lookup server returns the name, the creation and expiry dates, the registrar, the status codes and the name servers. Because org.ge is open only to legal entities, transparency is this zone's default: the rules publish the holder's name, e-mail, phone number and address. The privacy option offered to natural persons does not come into play here. A legal entity may, however, request concealment through its registrar, in which case only the registrar's details remain visible and the service may carry an extra fee.
