Economy of Macedonia
The Macedonian economy is based on agriculture and industry. In addition, forestry has an important place in mining economy. The well-watered plains are Europe's fruit and vegetable warehouses. The main crops are wheat, grapes, corn, potatoes, cotton, tobacco, poppy, sesame, rice and plum. Animal husbandry is common in mountainous areas. Sheep, cattle, pigs and chickens are the most fed animals. Fishing is done in the lakes.
Copper, lead, zinc, kaolin, dolomite, gypsum, limestone, iron and silver are found in the country.
