No. dotPH's service agreement lists six namespaces in a single sentence and binds them all to the same rules, and no policy adds a purpose test, an entity test or a non-profit test for .org.ph. Eligibility is word-for-word what it is on the other two extensions: an identifiable individual over eighteen, or a legally recognised statutory entity. Measurement on 15 August 2026 confirms it — jobs.org.ph was held by a private individual in Makati, and news.org.ph sat behind a privacy provider. In rules, none: both are namespaces of the same registry under the same service agreement, the same eligibility test, the same naming rules and the same term ladder. The difference is settled use and size. On 15 August 2026 certificate transparency logs held 4,907 distinct names under .org.ph, with institutions at the centre of gravity, whereas .com.ph is the country's commercial address and its corporate names reach back to 1999. In practice .org.ph offers an institutional signal and generic labels that are still unclaimed.

Three characters. The rulebook disallows one- and two-character names outright and caps the label at 63. Measurement confirms it: on 15 August 2026 the registry's own lookup answered the two-character xk.org.ph with "Please provide a valid domain name", treating it as invalid rather than taken, while the three-character xyz.org.ph came back free. Two further rules apply beyond length: a name may not begin or end with a hyphen, and all-numeric names are rejected. That second rule is the one most easily missed before an order is placed.

The registry sells fixed steps rather than a continuous range: three months, one year, two years, five years or ten years. Terms of three, four, six, seven, eight or nine years have nothing behind them. The ten-year step is genuinely used in this namespace: measured on 15 August 2026, redcross.org.ph ran to 13 July 2036 and wwf.org.ph to 23 July 2036, both renewed in the summer of that year. Because no guaranteed renewal window follows expiry, choosing a long term is as much risk management as budgeting.

There is no grace period of fixed length. The term policy ends your right of first refusal on the last day of the period already paid for, and the registry's support text says an expired name can be renewed only while it has not been deleted, that deletion may happen at any time, and that continued availability for renewal cannot be guaranteed. No penalty redemption stage is defined; once deleted, the name is open to anyone. For an organisation whose donation page or member login runs on that address, the consequence is severe. That is exactly why the zone's large holders buy ten-year terms.

The label itself cannot be edited, but the registry offers a free way out. dotPH's Domain Swap service lets you exchange the name you hold for another available one without buying a fresh registration. The rules are written down: a swap stays within the same extension, it may be used once every two weeks, and names carrying value-added services other than privacy, as well as premium names, are excluded. For an association or project that has just renamed itself, this is the shortest route to fixing a mistyped address without a second cost.

The transfer runs on an authorisation code. You obtain it from the current registrar, where it may be called an Auth Code, EPP Key or Transfer Code, and the gaining side starts the move with it. Two conditions stop the process before it begins: a status of Client Transfer Prohibited or Client Update Prohibited on the name, or an expiry date already passed.
