No. Starting a name with «org» does not require any document showing that you are non-profit, and an available name is assigned automatically; the only zones excluded from automatic assignment are .gob.es and .edu.es. The applicable test is the same as across the namespace: any natural or legal person with interests in or links to Spain may obtain the name. The registry defines that link through three situations, one of which is wanting to direct services wholly or partly at the Spanish market.

In associations and foundations, that person leaving creates a risk the notice never lands.

Anyone who can show a legitimate interest may start the procedure. The six published grounds are: no interests in or links to Spain; a name composed only of surnames whose holder has no direct connection to it; false or incorrect data in the record whose accuracy cannot be proven; failure to observe the technical rules; breach of the syntax rules; and a name declared to be of general interest by decision of the President of Red.es. The holder is given a right of reply.
