Holding both is possible and makes sense for brand protection: when the second level opened in 2022, the priority claim went precisely to existing .co.tz holders.

You get thirty days. The regulation provides that a name not renewed on or before its expiry day enters a protection period of thirty days from that day, and is cancelled if it is still not renewed within it. The second step of the grace-plus-redemption chain customary in generic extensions has not been published for this zone; there is no second chance window. Because the registry's fee schedule carries a separate restoration item, the name can be recovered inside the protection period. The upshot is that diarising the expiry date matters more here than under a generic extension.

There is no privacy service to buy, and no need for one. The registry's whois and RDAP output never prints the holder's name, organisation, address, email or telephone; you see only the domain name, the identifiers of the contact records, the name server set and key set identifiers, the registrar and the dates.
