WHAT IS A .COM.TC DOMAIN

.com.tc Domain: The Commercial Zone of Turks and Caicos

.com.tc is one of the second-level zones under .tc, the country code extension of the Turks and Caicos Islands, a British Overseas Territory in the Caribbean. The .tc extension was entered in the root zone on 27 January 1997. In the IANA record its manager is Melrex TC of Providenciales, the administrative contact is the TCI Telecommunications Commission, and the registry running registration services is NIC TC Registry LTD. Day-to-day technical operation is handled from Türkiye, by a company based in Denizli.

The terms and conditions impose no nationality, residence or legal-entity requirement on the registrant; applications go through the registry's accredited registrars or resellers, and the term runs from one to ten years depending on the annual fees paid. Two clauses matter in practice. Clause 3.6 does not accept registrations made by third parties on a customer's behalf: every registration stands in the customer's own name. Clause 6.3 bars granting use of the name to others for the purpose of reselling subdomains.

A name does not vanish the moment it expires: clause 9.3 grants a thirty-day window to restore it, though restoration is charged separately and the name is deleted once the window closes. Certificate transparency logs showed 780 distinct names under com.tc holding a valid certificate when measured on 13 August 2026, so the zone is genuinely in use. For non-commercial projects the sibling zone is .org.tc. Check your candidate on the domain search page.

A geographic name requires written consent: Clause 3.4 of the terms requires the written consent of the competent authority to be supplied to the registry whenever a domain name contains the name of a county, province, city, district or country; clause 3.5 repeats the requirement for officially recognised bodies and authorities. The consent is checked not only at registration but at renewal too.

Domain Is Available (Available)

Open-ended

A .com.tc address at this stage has not been taken yet, and it goes to whoever registers first. Check the name you have in mind — if it is free, it can be yours within minutes.

Domain Is Active (Active Period)

1 - 10 years

Once registration is complete, the domain is registered to you for the term you selected. You can renew at any point before it expires to keep it active, or switch on auto-renewal so you never have to watch the date.

Redemption Period (Redemption Period)

Day 0 – 30

The domain is not released the moment it expires — during this window it is still yours and can be recovered. Some extensions charge an extra restore fee at this stage, so renewing before expiry is always the cheaper route.

Domain Is Available Again

After day 30

Once deletion completes, the domain leaves the system and anyone can register it — popular names are often taken the same minute by someone watching. Keep auto-renewal on so a name you care about never gets this far.

Frequently Asked Questions About .com.tc Domains

The questions people actually ask before registering — answered plainly.

  • To the Turks and Caicos Islands. The .tc extension is the country code of that British Overseas Territory in the Caribbean; in the IANA record its manager is Melrex TC of Providenciales and the administrative contact is the TCI Telecommunications Commission. The link with Türkiye is technical, not legal: the technical contact in the IANA record is a company based in Denizli. Clause 14 of the terms puts disputes under the law of the Turks and Caicos Islands.

  • No. The terms ask the registrant for no nationality, residence or local legal entity; applications go through the registry's accredited registrars or resellers. In exchange, clause 3.6 does not accept registrations made by third parties on a customer's behalf: the record is opened directly in your name and you appear as the registrant.

  • Clause 3.4 requires the written consent of the competent authority to be supplied to the registry whenever the name contains that of a county, province, city, district or country; without it the name is not accepted. Clause 3.5 repeats the requirement for officially recognised bodies and authorities, and clause 11.1(d) asks you to warrant that the consent stays valid throughout the term.

  • Under clause 9.3 there is a thirty-day period after expiry in which the name can be restored to the register; restoration is charged separately. Renewal itself is made by online payment from your account before midnight (GMT+1) on the day the term ends. If the thirty-day window is missed as well, clause 10.1 applies and the name is deleted and released for registration again.

  • Yes. Clause 7 allows the name to move from the registry to a registrar, from a registrar to the registry, and from one registrar to another. For security the losing registrar issues a transfer code that is notified to the receiving registrar, and only the registrant can start a transfer. No further transfer is possible within thirty days of one being effected. You can begin from the domain transfer page.

  • Clause 4 of the WHOIS policy lists what is published for legal persons: the registration date, the expiry date, the organisation name where available, and the nameservers. Clause 5 sets out three anti-mining measures: a query is gated by a verification code, multi-criteria search is not possible, and at most five domain names may be retrieved from the same IP address within sixty minutes. You can run queries from the whois lookup page.

  • Clause 10.3 allows the agreement to be terminated immediately and without prior notice if it comes to the registry's attention that spam is being sent from the domain. Clause 10.4 lists the grounds for termination or suspension on seven days' written notice: use detrimental to the operation of the top level domain, breach of the terms, failure to keep contact details accurate, use likely to confuse internet users, and legal action being commenced over the name.
