Cambodia's Economy
Cambodia's economy is mainly based on agriculture. Raised agricultural products mainly include rice and rubber. Soil suitable for agriculture is more than the cultivated soil. But since modern agricultural tools are not used, the cultivated areas are scarce.
80% of the cultivated land of Cambodia is devoted to rice production. The most produced product after rubber is rubber. Apart from these, sugar cane, potatoes, peanuts, corn, tobacco and cassava are grown.
Although the lands of Cambodia are covered with dense forests, the forest industry has not developed. An average of 260,000 cubic meters of timber is produced annually. The transport of logs is made by rivers.
The fish have an important place in the nutrition of the people of Cambodia. More freshwater fish are hunted. The country's fish paste and fish sauces are world famous. Only 10% of the caught fish is sold out.
Cambodia's industry is based on the food, textile and timber industry. There are also pine processing, tractor and truck assembly plants, cement, tire and sugar factories.
