No. Read end to end, the registry's Registration and Service Agreement contains no clause about citizenship, residence, a local address, a local agent or supporting documents; it defines the holder simply as the applicant and never asks where you are from. A company registered abroad, a sole trader and a private individual all register on the same terms. Although the Northern Mariana Islands are a United States commonwealth, the kind of local connection requirement found in some US extensions has no counterpart in .mp. Your only real obligation is declaratory: your contact details must be accurate and current, and you warrant that you registered the name in good faith.

One, three or five years for ordinary names, and one year at a time for short premium names. The term here is not a continuous range but a discrete set of options: there is no two-year .mp registration, and no four-year one either. Renewal follows the same steps, so an ordinary name can be extended by one, three or five years. For one, two and three-character premium names both the initial registration and the renewal are offered on a yearly basis, with no multi-year commitment available. The agreement itself states no figures, leaving the choice to the options current on the registry's order page.

No, there is no recovery window. The agreement says so plainly: if the renewal fee is not paid on time the service terminates automatically and without notice, the name is deleted, and it becomes available to other registrants immediately. The thirty-day grace period and the redemption phase that follows it in generic extensions have no counterpart in this zone. The same clause adds a further warning: the registry is not obliged to send you a renewal reminder, and payment falls due before the current term ends. Leaving a .mp renewal to the last day therefore carries a genuine risk of loss, so putting the date in your calendar is the safest course.

They are not, because no working public lookup channel has been published for .mp. The extension's root zone record names no whois server, the international RDAP directory contains no entry for .mp, and the registry's website offers no public lookup form. The result is that the name, address or email of a .mp holder cannot be queried from outside. The registry's privacy document frames this as a registrant choice as well: follow the procedure on the site to keep your details private and they are not disclosed to third parties, with disclosure limited to listed cases such as court orders, lawful requests and dispute proceedings. There is no change of registrar in .mp, because the registry and the sales channel are the same company, and the agreement describes no procedure for issuing an authorisation code. What exists instead is a change of holder, carried out from account to account inside the registry's own system. The conditions are explicit: only names for which the registration fee has been paid may be transferred, the incoming party pays the transfer fee shown on the site, and the registration takes effect only once that payment succeeds. A complainant must prove three elements together: that the name is identical or confusingly similar to their trademark, that the holder has no rights or legitimate interests in it, and bad faith. On that last element the .mp text departs from common practice: bad faith at registration or in use is enough, and the two are not required in combination. The complaint goes to an internationally recognised dispute provider and the complainant normally bears the fees. Once a decision arrives the registry allows a fifteen-day waiting period before implementing it. The governing law is that of the islands together with applicable US federal law.
