.org.pe Domain: Peru's Institutional Namespace
.org.pe is the institution-flavoured zone under Peru's country extension .pe, run by Red Científica Peruana — the civil-society body that ran the country's first internet service and operates the registry from Lima as NIC.PE and Punto.pe. Before the reform of 8 December 2007 this was the natural address for Peruvian associations, foundations and professional bodies, and the same audience still favours it; PROMPERÚ, the state export and tourism agency, keeps its name here.
The restriction the label suggests does not actually exist. The registry splits its zones into restricted and unrestricted and puts .org.pe in the unrestricted group; the rulebook contains no eligibility clause written for this zone, and documents are required only for gob.pe, mil.pe and edu.pe. Measurement bears it out: the single-letter name in the zone is held by a private individual. No association certificate or non-profit declaration is asked for — you are buying an association, not a status.
Registration runs from one to five years and renews automatically once the fee is paid on time. Labels may be one to 63 characters and can include the Spanish characters á, é, í, ó, ú and ñ. For a commercial signal .com.pe is open, and .pe gives the shorter form. Check your shortlist on the domain name search page.

The stages in order, from registration to releaseDomain Is Available (Available)
A .org.pe address at this stage has not been taken yet, and it goes to whoever registers first. Check the name you have in mind — if it is free, it can be yours within minutes.
Domain Is Active (Active Period)
Once registration is complete, the domain is registered to you for the term you selected. You can renew at any point before it expires to keep it active, or switch on auto-renewal so you never have to watch the date.
Redemption Period (Redemption Period)
The domain is not released the moment it expires — during this window it is still yours and can be recovered. Some extensions charge an extra restore fee at this stage, so renewing before expiry is always the cheaper route.
Pending Delete Period (Pending Delete Period)
If the redemption window is missed too, the domain enters the final stage and waits to be deleted. Renewal and recovery are no longer possible here; when the period ends the registration is removed for good.
Domain Is Available Again
Once deletion completes, the domain leaves the system and anyone can register it — popular names are often taken the same minute by someone watching. Keep auto-renewal on so a name you care about never gets this far.

Frequently Asked Questions About .org.pe Domains
The questions people actually ask before registering — answered plainly.
-
No. The registry splits its zones into restricted and unrestricted and places .org.pe in the unrestricted group; the rulebook contains no eligibility clause written for this zone. Documents are required only for gob.pe, mil.pe and edu.pe. Measurement confirms it: the single-letter name in the zone is held by a private individual. No non-profit declaration or association certificate is asked for.
-
No. The definition of an eligible holder is the same across every .pe zone: «any natural or legal person, national or foreign». No residency, local agent, Peruvian tax number or document is required, and there is no cap on how many names one holder may take. The registry's only condition is accurate data: it may ask you to confirm your details at any time, and false information is grounds for suspension or cancellation.
-
One to five years. The registry's fee schedule lists all five terms separately, and the registration contract defines the term as «the registration period requested», renewing automatically once payment arrives on time. A longer term thins out your renewal calendar, which is worth it here: the expiry date brings immediate suspension and leaves a single thirty-day window behind it.
-
More likely than on .com.pe. Measured on 15 August 2026, the single-letter a.org.pe was taken but the two-letter ab.org.pe was still free, while the .com.pe register is packed with established names going back to the early 2000s. The minimum length is one character in both zones and the maximum is 63. Of two zones under one rulebook, .org.pe is the more open one for short, memorable labels.
-
The name is suspended on its expiry date and the website and mail stop that same day. A single 30-calendar-day window then runs: pay inside it and the name is restored, miss it and the name is deleted and becomes available to anyone. There is no second redemption stage and no separate recovery fee, which is why leaving the renewal to the expiry date is riskier across the .pe family.
-
Ownership changes at the holder's own request, through a will or a notarial declaration of heirs, by administrative or court order, or by a decision of a dispute resolution centre. The new holder must accept the registration contract. The cost falls on the outgoing holder and the registry has capped it: the fee may not exceed one year of maintenance at the moment of transfer. Changing registrar is a separate operation that leaves the name untouched — start it from the domain transfer page.
-
Yes. The syntax rule allows á, é, í, ó, ú and ñ without distinguishing between levels, and the registry lists IDN registration among the changes its 2007 reform brought in. Measurement found live examples at the second level (españa.pe, perú.pe), where the lookup response carries a separate Unicode line. In technical records the name appears in Punycode form with the xn-- prefix, while browsers show the readable version.
