Buy .com.sn Domain Name

This zone is reserved for companies: article 7 of the charter defines com.sn in a single word, «Sociétés». The document asked of a legal person is a NINEA or a commercial register entry, but the charter does not say which country's register it means — the position of a company based abroad is therefore not expressly settled and needs confirming before you order. If you would rather not enter the category question at all, the .sn level is open to everyone with no category required in advance.

Documents are required at registration, and the registry says so twice on its lifecycle page. The eligibility box states that legal persons need «a NINEA or a commercial register document»; the note on the first stage adds that a registration becomes valid once the payment and the supporting documents have reached the registrar. NINEA is Senegal's business identification number. The same box also gives the processing time: after payment and documents are verified, the registration completes within a few hours.

The difference is the category. Article 7 of the charter lists four naming zones and ties com.sn to companies; the note immediately below says the opposite for the direct .sn level — it is open to everyone with no category required in advance. So unlike in most countries, the more accessible level in Senegal is the top one rather than the sub-zone. The document requirement, the naming rules, the lifecycle and the dispute procedure are identical at both levels.

A measurement on 12 August 2026 showed that com.sn is not a separate zone: SOA and NS queries returned an empty answer carrying .sn's own records. The reason the label appears in DNS at all is not architecture but a marker — com.sn, org.sn, edu.sn and univ.sn all carry one and the same text record. In the same measurement none of the eight candidate names tried resolved under com.sn. By contrast gouv.sn is a genuine delegation, and names directly under .sn work without trouble.

The lifecycle published by the registry works the same way at both levels. Once the name is deleted a 30-day recovery window opens, but the services are cut immediately — the website and email do not work during that period. Only the registrar that deleted the name can restore it, and the restore fee equals one additional year. A final, irreversible five-day stage follows; the registry warns separately that at that point third parties may catch the name the moment it drops.

Senegal does not hide the record. On 12 August 2026 a query to the registry's whois.nic.sn server returned the administrative, technical and billing contacts in the open, alongside the registrar, the dates and the status. The header of the reply sets out the framework: the data is processed only for domain name operations, and under Senegal's personal data protection law 2008-12 you may exercise your rights through the registry's abuse address.
