Venezuela's banks, its oil company and its large institutions all keep their names here. Even so, the single-letter a.com.ve was only taken in 2020 and the two-letter ab.com.ve is still free — short labels have not all gone.

According to the registry's user manual a name moves to «Por Vencer» thirty days before expiry and a warning is sent; on the expiry date it becomes «Vencido» and only 15 days remain for renewal. Once that runs out the name is released. The payment path narrows too: bank transfer is available for the first 10 days only, while card payment works across the full 15.

Two grounds are recognised — the holder's own decision, provided the account is in good standing, and a judicial or administrative order. One block applies: a name that is the subject of a dispute properly notified to NIC.ve cannot be transferred. The transfer carries its own fee.

Ten at most. The registry's user manual gives the limit as a number: up to ten nameservers per domain, and for each of them up to four IPv4 and four IPv6 addresses. The registry only accepts IP addresses whose reachability can be verified on the network. It also marks names that sit in the register but are not written into the zone with a separate status.
