SSL installation comes down to four steps: create an admin email address, generate a CSR code on your server, send it to Atak Domain, and confirm the validation email. Once those are done, your certificate is ready to install — and your site will be accessible over HTTPS.
The exact steps vary slightly depending on whether you're running cPanel, Plesk, or IIS. This page covers all three, with dedicated step-by-step guides for each panel.

| 1 | Create your admin email — Set up [email protected] before anything else. |
| 2 | Generate a CSR — Create the Certificate Signing Request on your server. |
| 3 | Send the CSR to Atak Domain — Email it to [email protected] or [email protected]. |
| 4 | Confirm the validation email — Click the approval link sent to your admin address. |
| 5 | Install the certificate — Follow the guide for your control panel (cPanel / Plesk / IIS). |
| 6 | Verify HTTPS — Check the padlock in your browser and run the SSL Checker. |
Have the following ready before beginning the activation process:
| Admin email | [email protected] — required for domain ownership verification |
| CSR code | Generated on your server; contains your domain and organization details |
| Domain name | The exact domain the certificate covers; *.yourdomain.com for Wildcard |
| Control panel | cPanel, Plesk, or IIS — determines how you generate the CSR and install the cert |
| Inbox access | The certificate authority sends an approval link to your admin address |
Create [email protected] from the email management section of your control panel. This is the address that will receive the validation link from the certificate authority.
The following addresses are also accepted for DV SSL validation:
A CSR (Certificate Signing Request) is an encrypted text block that contains your domain name, organization details, and your server's public key. The certificate authority uses it to issue an SSL certificate that's specific to your domain.
For cPanel and Plesk users, the CSR tool is built into the control panel. For IIS, follow our IIS CSR generation guide.
Email your CSR code to one of the following addresses:
The certificate authority will send an approval link to your [email protected] address. Click the link to complete domain validation. If the email doesn't arrive within a few minutes, check your spam folder — then contact Atak Domain support if needed.
Once validation is complete, your certificate will be issued. Install it using the guide that matches your control panel:
Plesk: SSL Certificate Installation
cPanel: SSL Certificate Installation
IIS: SSL Certificate Installation
Open your website in a browser and confirm the padlock icon appears in the address bar. You can also run a full check at atakdomain.com/en/ssl-checker to confirm the certificate is valid and correctly configured.
Certificate authorities verify domain ownership by sending an approval link to a known administrative address on the domain. The most common is [email protected], but any of the five standard addresses will work:
| admin@ | Most widely used validation address |
| administrator@ | Alternative system administrator address |
| webmaster@ | Accepted by all major certificate authorities |
| hostmaster@ | DNS and hosting administrator address |
| postmaster@ | Mail server administrator address |
⚠️ At least one of these addresses must exist and be accessible before you start the SSL activation process. If the validation email doesn't arrive, check your spam folder first.
A CSR (Certificate Signing Request) is an encrypted block of text generated on your server. It contains your domain name, organization name, location, and your server's public key — the information the certificate authority needs to issue an SSL certificate tied specifically to your domain.
It looks like this:
-----BEGIN CERTIFICATE REQUEST----- MIIByjCCATMCAQAwgYkxCzAJBgNVBAYT... -----END CERTIFICATE REQUEST-----
ℹ️ The CSR must be generated on the same server where your website is hosted. A CSR created on a different server will cause a mismatch during installation.

These are the issues that most often block or break SSL activation:
❌ No admin email created
Validation email cannot be sent; activation cannot begin.
❌ CSR generated incorrectly
Wrong domain name or special characters will cause the CSR to be rejected.
❌ Validation email not confirmed
The certificate is never issued; approval links expire after a set period.
❌ No HTTPS redirect configured
Visitors still land on HTTP even after the certificate is installed.
❌ Mixed content errors
HTTP-loaded resources (images, scripts) trigger browser security warnings.
Run through these checks after your SSL certificate is installed:
Does your site load over HTTPS?
Is the padlock icon visible in the browser address bar?
Does HTTP automatically redirect to HTTPS?
Are there any mixed content warnings? (Check browser console: F12)
Have you noted the certificate expiry date?
Have you verified the installation at atakdomain.com/en/ssl-checker?
An SSL certificate is not just a technical checkbox. It directly affects how visitors perceive your site, how search engines rank it, and whether browsers flag it as unsafe.
| Security | Encrypts data between the visitor and your server — essential for logins, forms, and payments. |
| HTTPS & padlock | Browsers mark HTTP sites as "Not Secure." HTTPS removes that warning and builds trust. |
| User confidence | Visitors who see the padlock are more likely to stay, engage, and convert. |
| SEO signal | HTTPS is a positive technical signal for search engines; unsecured sites are at a disadvantage. |
| E-commerce & compliance | Any site collecting data or processing payments needs SSL as a baseline standard. |
A: Yes. The CSR (Certificate Signing Request) is mandatory — it contains the information the certificate authority uses to issue an SSL certificate specific to your domain.
A: No. DV SSL certificates require domain ownership to be verified via one of the five standard addresses (admin, administrator, webmaster, hostmaster, or postmaster). At least one must exist before activation.
A: Check your spam or junk folder first. If it's not there, contact Atak Domain at [email protected] or [email protected] — the support team will follow up on the process.
A: Yes. Free remote installation support is available on request. Just get in touch with the support team.
A: If your hosting is with Atak Domain, the technical team can install your SSL certificate directly — no need to handle it yourself.
A: Not by default. The certificate is installed on the server, but the HTTP-to-HTTPS redirect must be configured separately. Without it, visitors who type http:// will not be redirected.
A: In cPanel, go to Security > SSL/TLS and use the built-in tool to upload and activate your certificate. See our cPanel SSL installation guide for step-by-step instructions.
A: In Plesk, go to SSL/TLS Certificates, upload your certificate, then enable SSL/TLS support and the 301 redirect under Hosting Settings. See our Plesk SSL installation guide for full details.
SSL installation follows a straightforward sequence: set up your admin email, generate a CSR, confirm the validation, and install the certificate on your server. Whichever control panel you're using, the guides above walk you through every step.
If you run into any issues, Atak Domain's support team can connect remotely and take care of the installation for you.
✅ Once installed, verify your certificate at https://www.atakdomain.com/en/ssl-checker to confirm everything is working correctly.
