Agriculture and livestock constitute the largest part of the Nicaraguan economy. Cotton, coffee, meat, chemical products and sugar are the main export goods. More than half of the cultivated land is divided into cotton and rice. Coffee, sugar cane, grains, sorghum and beans are cultivated in the remaining soil.
The main branches of manufacturing industry are sugar industry, edible oil production, plastic industry, leather industry, textile industry, chemical products, cement industry, soft drinks and alcoholic beverages, meat and milk products, plywood industry. The main gold and silver and copper mines are operated in Nicaragua and most of them are exported.

Nations Living in Nicaragua
The majority of the population of Nicaragua are hybrids consisting of a mixture of Europeans and American Indians. However, there are two groups on the coast of Karayib, which are quite different from the rest of the country. These are still descendants of the Mosquito (Miskito) natives, who live in a wide range of tribes, and the Jamaicans who were brought as slaves from Africa by the British to this part of the country in the 19th century. They have been largely separated from other Nicaragans economically and culturally.
