The rules set this space aside for business entities; the same text ties each sibling space to a purpose and describes .rs as intended «for all interested users». In practice the distinction holds: on 15 August 2026 every registered name sampled in this zone was held by a company or a sole trader. No documents are filed at registration, but the registry may verify your details at any time, and if they turn out beyond reasonable doubt to be wrong or incomplete the name is switched off first and the registration can then be terminated. The declared capacity is an obligation that can be checked afterwards.

You are expected to be a business, but not a business established in Serbia. The rules reserve the space for business entities while setting no residence, nationality or local-address condition on the holder. Measurement confirms it: names in this zone are held by foreign legal entities as well. A limited company or sole trader based in Türkiye can apply without an agent, a trustee or any notarised document. The obligation to be registered in Serbia falls only on firms that want to become accredited registrars — and registration always runs through one of those anyway.

Both sit with the same registry under the same rulebook, so the term, the lifecycle, the transfer procedure and the dispute route are identical. The difference lies in two places. First, purpose: .co.rs is reserved for business entities while .rs is open to everyone. Second, availability: on 15 August 2026 fifty common Serbian and English words were queried in both zones, and only one of them was still free under .rs while twenty were free under .co.rs. If you are after a short, generic business name, the second zone gives you noticeably better odds.

You get thirty days. The moment the registration period ends the name is deactivated — your website and company email stop working the next day — and the holder has thirty days to bring it back. Renew inside that window and the new period starts from the end of the previous one rather than from the day you file. If nothing is renewed by the end of the thirtieth day the name is deleted from the Registry. The generic pairing of a grace period followed by a redemption period does not exist in this zone: there is one window, and throughout it your domain is already down. Renewal is handled by your registrar, not by the registry.

As a rule, yes. The rules provide for publication of the details of legal entities and sole traders: business name, registered address and company registration number. Because holders in this zone are overwhelmingly companies, the public lookup shows those details openly; in our sample not a single name had a masked holder. Data on natural-person holders, by contrast, is never published. Courts, prosecutors and competent authorities obtain data on official request, and if a third party asks for it the registry puts the question to the holder first. There are two separate operations. A change of registrar runs on an authorisation code: you request it from your current provider, it is sent only to the email address recorded with the registry, and you hand it to the new one. If the current provider does not respond within seven days, the registry generates the code itself and sends it to you, so the process cannot be stalled. A change of holder is a different procedure and is what you need after a merger, a change of company name or a sale of the name; it is filed through the registrar and the registry completes it within sixty working days at the latest. Two obligations, and missing either one switches the name off. First: once the name is activated the registry sends your registration data and a verification link to your company email address, as a rule immediately and at the latest within three working days; if nobody clicks that link within twenty days the name is deactivated even though it has been paid for. Second: if any registration detail changes — company name, address, email, phone — you must report it to your registrar within fifteen days. If the company is wound up or its status changes, the registry may ask for proof of legal succession.

The UDRP you know from generic extensions does not apply here. Disputes go to an independent, permanent committee established within the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Serbia, and by registering a name the holder accepts its jurisdiction. The procedure was renewed in 2026 and published in the Official Gazette of the Republic of Serbia. As a rule a single expert decides; a three-member panel is formed if a party asks for one. The procedure is single-instance and normally runs sixty days. The decision is final; the registry enforces it ten days after receipt, unless a party proves that court proceedings have begun.
