According to the TRABİS extension breakdown dated 12 August 2026, this zone holds 7,628 active domain names. The same measurement puts the total of active .tr names at 1,333,801, of which 1,015,391 sit in com.tr. The comparison has a practical result: many names already taken in com.tr can still be free in this zone, so trying it before hunting for alternatives saves time.

TRABİS lists twenty sub-domains: com, net, biz, info, bbs, name, org, web, gen, av, tv, dr, k12, tel, bel, gov, edu, pol, tsk and kep. Some of them are allocated against documents and some without. Names in the direct .tr structure, that is example.tr, can also be allocated.

Documentless allocation follows the first come, first served rule, and the first applicant is identified from the time record of the application reaching TRABİS. The decision rests on the timestamp in the system, not on the order kept by a registrar. Names cannot be reserved either, so for contested names preparing the application in advance and submitting it instantly is what decides the outcome.

A name is allocated for at least one and at most five years at a time. The registrar must notify you at least by e-mail no later than three months before the period ends, and the renewal application is filed inside that window. If you waive the name its use is suspended for two months; applying within that period renews the allocation, otherwise the name is reopened for allocation.

TAKAL is the list of domain names that may not be allocated at all, on grounds such as conflict with legislation, public order, national security, public morality, health and safety. TAKIL is the restricted list: names that have passed into common historical and cultural heritage, city names, and words such as bank, finance and ministry, kept restricted to make fraudulent registrations harder. Running that check before you settle on a brand name costs less than searching for an alternative after a refusal.

Transfer of ownership is possible: you complete your registrar's transfer form accurately and submit the documents set out in the legislation. As for resale, TRABİS states that domains may be sold but only three years after the system went live, and that the details will be announced; no such procedure announcement is published on its announcements page today. Changing registrar is a separate operation and starts from the domain transfer page.

TRABİS operates a Dispute Resolution Mechanism, and a complaint requires all three conditions to be claimed together: the name is identical or similar to a trademark, trade name or business name that is owned or used in trade; the holder has no legal right or connection to the name; and the name was registered or is being used in bad faith. The mechanism is an alternative route and your right to go to court remains. As of 12 August 2026 the number of concluded disputes is 766.
