Allocation is documented. An individual applicant submits a current document from the bar association of the province where they are registered, showing that they are a lawyer, or a notarised copy of it. Applying on behalf of a law office or an attorney partnership means the same document for every single lawyer in that office or partnership; where a representative files the application, an authorisation document is added. The paperwork reaches TRABİS through the registrar you choose and is examined by the Authority. If something is missing, further information and documents are requested — the delay is correspondence, not refusal.
One distinction is frequently confused: .av.tr is for lawyers only, while the equivalent for physicians is .dr.tr. Domain Is Active (Active Period)
Once registration is complete the domain is yours for the term you chose. You can renew at any point before expiry to keep it uninterrupted, or switch on auto-renewal so you never have to watch the date.
Redemption Period (Redemption Period)
The domain is not released the moment it expires — during this window it is still yours and can be recovered. Some extensions charge an extra restore fee at this stage, so renewing before expiry is always the cheaper route.
Pending Delete Period (Pending Delete Period)
If the redemption window is missed too, the domain enters the final stage and waits to be deleted. Renewal and recovery are no longer possible here; when the period ends the registration is removed for good.

This is the most commonly missed point; when it is absent, TRABİS asks for the further document and the allocation waits.

TRABİS-KK, the Authority's own registrar, accepts applications only for edu.tr, gov.tr, pol.tr, tsk.tr and k12.tr filed by public bodies; av.tr is not on that list. As a lawyer or law office you therefore open the file through a registrar, which forwards your paperwork to TRABİS.

The extension is transferable. Because TRABİS brought the move to the registry-registrar model, you can carry your domain between accredited registrars. A transfer does not remove your eligibility for the extension; the domain continues to belong to a lawyer or law office.
